MAMA
MAMA is a Lettering design that I designed for "Mother's Day" specifically for the word "Mama". I thought of two letters conceived in the same drawing, with which to write the word mom in a discreet and not immediately recognizable way. An essential, discreet shape that has given life to a lettering capable of being reproduced ad infinitum, creating a texture that becomes a game to look at and read.

FROM LETTERING TO TEXTURE
I've always been fascinated by pure shapes, by everything that allowed me to create and build something, by colors and their infinite variations and combinations. The playful aspect and the search for a dreamlike dimension that has always accompanied my works allows me to always see beyond things, imagining that from every single form new ones can be born and in infinite variations, like in life, new possibilities of experience . A word, an object, an emotion can change every day or be perceived through a new point of view, independently of us or, if we commit ourselves, through our will.
HOW MAMA PROJECT IS BORN
The idea was born while I was sketching the stylized figure of a Mom on a simple notepad, a small drawing made by chance while thinking of a lettering to be created.
I realized that I had to go back to work and as a reminder for when I would get back I thought of writing "Mom" in italian language next to it, a simple reminder to remind me to continue with the idea. . Writing it alongside seemed trivial to me, even if it was just a reminder, and it was then that I imagined the word inserted into the figure itself, which turns into a Greek key at the bottom of the skirt. To do this, I looked for a shape that would allow me to write both letters, a triangle formed only by two lines. An element that in its repetition evolves from simple words to infinite variations and textures. Then I chose the word MAMA in english language that is used especially in America that children often use to say Mom, or even in adults to address her or name her more intimately. The same lettering can be used for the translation of some words from other languages, including, by adding a "triangle", Mamma in Italian.
The series of MAMA paintings was also born from lettering, paintings that in the repetition of the same word create variations, combinations and a texture capable of celebrating the Mother infinitely.
COME NASCE MAMA LETTERING
L’idea è nata mentre abbozzavo su un semplice block notes la figura stilizzata di una Mamma, un piccolo disegno fatto casualmente mentre pensato a un lettering da realizzare. Mi accorsi che dovevo tornare al lavoro e come appunto per quando sarei tornata pensai di scriverci di fianco “Mamma”, un semplice promemoria ricordarmi di proseguire con l'idea. Scriverlo di fianco mi sembrava banale, anche se si trattava solo di un promemoria, e fu allora che mi immaginai la parola inserita nella figura stessa, come una piccola greca in fondo alla gonna. Per farlo ho cercato una forma che mi permettesse di scrivere entrambe le due lettere, un triangolo formato solo da due linee. Un elemento che nel suo ripetersi si evolve da semplice parole fino a infinite variazioni e texture. MAMA è la parola inglese utilizzata soprattutto in america che i bambini utilizzano spesso per dire Mamma, o anche negli gli adulti per rivolgersi a lei o nominarla in maniera più intima. Lo stesso lettering può essere utilizzato per la traduzione di alcune parole di altre lingue, fra cui, aggiungendo un “triangolo”, Mamma in italiano. Sono sempre stata affascinata dalle forme pure, da tutto ciò che mi permetteva di creare e costruire qualcosa, dai colori e dalle loro infinite variazioni e accostamenti.
L'aspetto ludico e la ricerca di una dimensione onirica che da sempre accompagna i miei lavori mi permette di vedere sempre oltre le cose, immaginando che da ogni singola forma ne possano nascere di nuove e in infinite varianti, come nella vita nuove possibilità di esperienza. Una parola, un oggetto, un’emozione possono cambiare ogni giorno o essere percepite attraverso un nuovo punto di vista, indipendentemente da noi o, se ci impegniamo, attraverso la nostra volontà.
Da lettering è nata anche la serie di quadri MAMA, dipinti che nella ripetizione della stessa parola, creano varianti, accostamenti e una texture capace di celebrare la Mamma all’infinito.
