VOLTI DELLA LUNA / FACES ON THE MOON

Faces of the Moon a project based on a dialogue between the art of Elena Amodeo and the writings of Vittorio Schieroni, which are exhibited at Made4Art (24th July 2014), where Amodeo’s artworks are on display along with many excerpts from the homonymous collection of poems of Schieroni – an invitation to reflection and inspiration for the interpretation of the works of art.

Portraits of the soul, created with the immaterial language of the poetry represented by glances reflected by the language of art, in a continuous interaction and exchange, in the exhibition like among the pages of the book:  visible and verbal suggestions mixed together in an inseparable relation between harmony and contrast.

THE PROJECT

The works were born inspired by the collection of poems by Vittorio Schieroni, an immersion in ones personality to reveal different characteristics, to represent emotions and human soul almost always hidden and ignored: different aspects of the same personality, in a journey of self-discovery and self-analysis, that show the “real” person. Into Amodeo’s artworks, humane figure is an explored territory: black and white shots emphasizing the personality side of the subjects, with its lights and shadows, with touch of colour to make a connection with reality. Individuals who seclude themselves like the typical lunar faces, one revealed by the sun light and the other hidden on the other side.

The technique

The works are made through a very elaborate mixed technique with multiple steps. after photographing people, the photos are printed in black and white, on paper. he follows the drawing in matina of some parts of the photograph, some to accentuate the colors and chiaroscuro, others to create new shapes, such as very often the hair. The third step is the insertion of color made with acrylic colors on a sheet of plexiglass which is applied to the photograph on paper.

Faces of the Moon is the Made4Art summer exhibition where the protagonists are the two founders of this new enterprise dedicated to communication and organization of events of arts and culture in all its manifestations. Faces of the Moon is the second project based on a dialogue between the art of Elena Amodeo and the writings of Vittorio Schieroni, which are exhibited at Made4Art (24th July 2014), where Amodeo’s works – photographs portraits characterized by pictorial drawing and media mixed revision, all made in 2014 specifically for the exhibition – are on display along with many excerpts from the homonymous collection of poems of Schieroni – an invitation to reflection and inspiration for the interpretation of the works of art. The publication of Vittorio Schieroni’s poetries is the second step to this project. Faces of the Moon collection is an immersion in ones personality to reveal different characteristics, to represent emotions and human soul almost always hidden and ignored: different aspects of the same personality, in a journey of self-discovery and self-analysis, that show the “real” person.
